Meditation
Meditation can be defined as a form of prayer. It is a technique that can be practiced at any time and at any place. It is a process to connect us with our higher self/ our divine spirit and to heighten our spiritual awareness. For some, the process can be as simple as a quiet walk in the park or by a lake. Meditation creates a bridge with our higher self.
Several major religions include ritual meditation. These rituals are very complex and unique to the particular religion. However, meditation itself need not be a religious or spiritual activity. Most of the more popular systems of meditation are of Eastern origin.
Meditation techniques help to clear the mind and aid creativity. Meditation techniques have been shown to reduce stress and lower blood pressure.

There are many wonderful books that offer useful tips on the art of meditation. Most of these books teach individuals how to quiet the mind and focus in the silence within.
Simple exercises that teach you how to relax and concentrate can assist in heightening your ability to meditate.
Before meditation you may wish to define clearly what you want to learn or questions that you wish to ask your Higher Self. Answers often come in the hours or days following meditation, so do not expect an instant response. It is amazing how the simple process of allowing your mind to move past its usual "busy-ness" produces a clear decision or answer.
People who practice meditation on a regular basis often look and feel much younger than people of the same age. Giving the mind a "break" and allowing our Nature to perform self-repairs every day can make all the difference. Self-healing and rejuvenation are within reach of everyone who is prepared to learn meditation. It is important to be consistent and meditate every day on a regular schedule. Meditation requires practice and discipline, but its rewards are substantial.
