Beauty in the Eye of the Beholder

Beauty is defined as the quality that gives pleasure to the mind or senses and is associated with such properties as harmony of form or color, excellence of artistry, truthfulness, and originality. More simply expressed, beauty involves the qualities that give pleasure to the senses. This can include our senses of hearing, sight, taste, smell and feel. Beauty is a word commonly used to describe one that is beautiful, especially a beautiful woman. This often involves far more than physical beauty. Yet beauty is found in all of the best things in life that are all around us. When we allow ourselves not only to acknowledge, but also to appreciate the beauty in our lives, the result is the achievement of a deeper and more meaningful life experience.

Individually, where and how we see and experience beauty varies greatly. There is an immense truth in the statement that "beauty exists in the eye of the beholder". The wondrous key is that each of us has the opportunity daily to enjoy the beauty of our environments and our personal lives. The beauty of the constantly changing sky, of the many faces of nature with each changing season, the beauty of a smile on a stranger's face as you share a brief moment of interaction, the beauty of music, poetry, dance and art. To start each day and end each day with a sunrise and sunset, how much more beauty can we find?
